Report

Colts went into the game knowing that a win would secure them second place and see them playing Division One football next season. Colts started brightly from kickoff and Hufford nearly opened the scoring from a cross, unfortunately for Colts no one was quick enough to react to Hufford’s ball. This didn’t matter too much though as Colts were soon ahead in some what controversial fashion, King whipped in a ball and under pressure the defender inadvertently flicked the ball onto his hand. Lane confidently stepped up but for the first time this season missed the resulting kick, luckily for Colts and Lane the ball squirmed off the keeper and straight
into the reacting lane's path who passed the ball into the net from 6 yards.

Colts were winning but were not offering too much and it wasn’t long before Times Club were on level terms, Colts failed to clear the ball and were punished when the ball ricocheted to one of their players in the area, Hufford had to make a challenge but it wasn’t a good one and he brought the Times Club player down. Their player stepped up and from the spot shot low and hard into the bottom corner sending Lee the wrong way.

This wasn’t going how Colts planned. Colts needed to get a grip on the game because the midfield wasn’t as reliable as it usually was. However Colts were soon back where they wanted to be when N.Parker flicked on a ball with his head to lane, who gratefully lashed low past the keeper into the bottom right corner. Lane for the third game running was looking for his hatrick. The fourth goal of the game came from Lane, this time another penalty.

King whipped in the ball into Hufford, knowing he was going no-where except away from goal, Hufford allowed the Times Club defender to hurtle through the back of him to win his side their second penalty of the game. Lane stepped up again from the spot and this time made no mistake, Lane himself admitted afterwardsit wasn’t his best penalty.

Colts fourth goal came after a long throw was launched into the area falling to Bartlett who found himself 2 yards from goal, instead of taking the chance himself, he managed to expertly flick the ball off his right foot and onto his heel into the path of the oncoming Lane who had been hovering around the penalty spot, Lane then rifled the ball low past the keeper. Many people were of the belief Josh had completely fluffed his chance, but after several extravagents in front of goal throughout the season who knows what was really going through the mind of the centre back.

N.Parker tried to add to score, but after bundling through down the left his shot was awful and for the second time in a week he was left himself thinking he should of done alot better. Colts were again increasing the scoreline when a raking cross-field free kick by King found Colts centre back Bartlett who had peeled away at the back post and volleyed in with a well taken finish.

The next goal of the game again involved Bartlett, Bartlett did excellent and showed great pace to keep N.Parker’s pass in at the by line, once there Josh whipped in a great ball under the cross bar where Liversidge headed home from close range at the backpost.

Colts pace man Craig Winch then opened his account for the season after good link up with Lane, Winch burst into the area and struck a great finish across the keeper.Cue wild celebrations from Winch who didnt want to go down on the list of attacking players that hadnt managed to score a goal this season. It was time for Colts to introduce Rees, who made a real impact capitalising on lapse defending Gaz found himself one on one with the keeper unfortunately for Rees he couldn’t open his account and he chipped the ball wide.

Rees was again in front of goal this time N.Parker picked him out with a good lofted ball over the top, Rees got to the ball before defender and keeper but agonisingly for Rees the ball was cleared off the line by another defender. However Gaz's torment was Winches joy as the ball fell to Craig who stabbed the ball in from close range.

There was time for one more goal and this came after Liversidge launched another throw into the area and Lane reacted quick enough to head past the keeper. This was Lanes twelfth goal in three games and his fifth of the game. The final whistle went confirming that Colts had been promoted in Huffords first season.
