Report
This fixture was a bit of a shambles really and the game didnt kick off till about 11:00 due to a lack of ref. After a bit of ringing around the players were told that the ref had cancelled earlier in the week but both teams were not aware of this. Adam Wisker took up the daunting task of refeering the game which saw Alex Bysouth make a rare outing but Colt's were hit by the lack of King, Whitten, Freeman and Liversidge.
When the game did finally get under way it was Colt's that scored first after good work down the left by Bysouth and Mcguiness, Dave whipped a great cross across the 6 yard box where Hufford was diving in at the back post to prod home. Colts should of gone further ahead when Bennett was put in one on one but he chipped his shot high over the bar when he would expect himself todo better.
Putterills were back in the game after their striker managed to run the down the whole of the left wing before crossing in and finding the other Putterils striker unmarked who finished well past Lee. Good work from Bysouth found Bartlett who like Hufford had done previously scored from close range. There were strong appeals for offside as Bysouth picked up the ball and picked out Bartlett however these were waved away as Putterills had at least three players on the line.
Again Colts found themselves being pegged back after another run down the left resulted in another good across and finish leaving Lee no chance. The teams were not level for long though after Lane picked up the ball from Jones and he sent a low drive from 25yds through the keeper, the keeper probably wont be too happy conceding this but Colt's were now 3-2 up.
Colts went into the half time break leading. As the team's kicked off for the second half it had seemed Putterills had been dealt a blow as only ten players had lined up. More chances went begging in the second half again Bennett was unfortunate player, this time he couldnt find the net from a few yards out at the back post. Hufford changed it and brought Wisker on for Bysouth. Putterills who allways looked dangerous from setpieces launched a long throw into the box where their player rose highest and nodded past Lee into the bottom corner making it 3-3.
Colt's were dealt a massive blow with fifteen minutes to go when another setpiece caused havoc in the 6yd box, the Putterills striker headed against the crossbar before reacting quckest to bundle the ball in. Colt's were shocked by this and had todo something about it Hufford threw Jones up front and soon after they were level. Bennett found Jones who nipped into the 18yd box and chipped the ball over the out rushing keeper. Jones was causing all sorts of problem for the ten men of Putterills and could of won the game when he was denied by a great save from close range from the keeper after Jones powered through the defence. There was still time for late drama as Jone's header rebounded off the post.
