Procladd and Colts finally got to play each other in what turned out to be a goal fest. Both teams are trying to stay in touch of Kingpin United who lead Division Two. This game saw Colts score their most goals in a match, which was previously set at four against Division Four side Roebuck Wanderers.
The game started badly for Colts when after just five minutes a good flick on led to the Procladd striker getting onto the ball and rounding Lee to make it 1-0. Colts were soon back in the game though when a giant throw from Liversidge sailed into the 6 yard box, from there Lane rose and headed colts level. Colts again found themselves behind when a sweeping long ball found their player who held the ball up well and laid the ball off to his striking partner who tucked the ball into the gaping net.
Colts were soon back on level terms, Hufford picked up the ball from 20 yards and struck low across the keeper off the post and into the bottom corner. Once more Colts conceeded; this time non-existant marking from a corner allowed a free volley from six yards. Paul King then scored a third equaliser for Colts, a great bit of close control dribbling allowed Paul to get in the area and flick a sublime finish into the top corner.
Going into half-time the score was 3-3, it could have been better for Colts but Searle was ajudged to be offside when a good ball through found him clear to blast the ball into the right side of the goal.
It wasnt long before another goal was scored, this time it was Chris Thompson who banished his one on one demons and finished cooly slotting past the keeper. Some believed Chris would never score a one on one again. It was also rumoured that his contract was terminated during the early season.
Colts were on top and started to press for more goals, Hufford was again involved when he curled a dangerous ball into the area from a corner, the keeper went to punch but got in a right mess and inadvertdly put the ball in his own net. Another great setpiece from Hufford found Liversidge, who luckily for Colts can only score with his head, making no mistakes, he headed the ball high into the corner
Procladd scored again and started to gain a bit of control, in all honestly at 6-3 the game should of been over. Barlett had a good chance to wrap the game up but his header was cleared off the line. Colts were really begining to get tested especially when a long ball bounced up over Lee and into the net. The score was now 6-5 and Colts had to see this out. Colts knew that there was a big possibility of more goals to come, so rather than sitting back they decided to attack.
Colts were rewarded when King played the ball through to subsitute N.Parker, Parker latched onto it but made a real hash of a one one one. However he managed to poke the ball from the floor into the path of supersub Sam Jones who was lurking on the edge of the area and had the easiest task of converting into an empty net. Sams goal:minute ratio is incredible and definetly looks set to win the prestigous Golden Espodrill.
Procladd felt that the ball was kicked out the keepers hand, something the referee strongly disagreed with.
In the closing stages Lane was unlucky when he saw his free kick from 25 yards crash off the bar, but he was soon on the score sheet when he capitialsed on a poor pass back to their centre back. Lane muscled the centre back and chipped the ball delightfully over the on rushing goal keeper.
Game over and easily Colts best result of the season. Final Score 8-5.
