Report

Stevenage Colts Old Boys faced Mallard Old Boys with a unfamilar squad, Colts were allready missing 8 players and this wasnt helped when reliable right back/left back Mark Pallister called Kieran to say he was stuck in Turvey. Turvey where the hell is that? Kieran and team had managed to draft a team together which included Alex Elmes, Richard Pomroy and Jordans mate Ricky. Due to lack of club captain Whitten, new signing Mullen took the captaincy for the game. The game started quite scrappy and both teams wasted the odd oppurtunity. Mallard Old Boys broke the deadlock though with a neat lob over Pomroys head. The lead didnt last long though as Lane picked up the ball from about 30yds and unleashed a great strike into the top corner to make it 1-1. Colts were now starting to take control and it was soon 2-1 when N.Parker captiliased on a defenders hesitation and slotted past the stranded keeper. The second half turned into a bit of a nightmare for Colts as Kieran used his squad and started testing people in other positions. This allowed Mallard Old Boys to get a firm grip on the game and they were rewarded when a great cross from the right was met with a good header past Pomroy. Colts had other chances and the best probably fell to Elmes, Lane flicked onto Elmes who hit a good volley unfortunately for Colts it was straight at the keeper. Freeman then tried to better Lanes first half goal but the Mallard Old Boys keeper managed to tip over. Mallard Old Boys won the game with 10mins to go when their player found enough time to look up and curl the ball brilliantly into the top corner.
