Report

Colts went into this tough test of a game knowing beating a strong premiership outfit in Mallard would give them a space in the Semi Finals of the KLM Cup. Unfortunately it wasnt to be as Mallard were just too strong for them. Colts started the game brightly and leading the line were Hufford and King - who is playing with what the doctors lead him to believe is a serious injury.

The problem facing Colts was though they started brightly, they never looked a threat up top, this also didn't help when three players dropped out on the morning of the game. It did however take the strong premiership team at least 25 minutes to break the deadlock. The first goal came when their striker picked up the ball on the left before drifting inside and beating C.Parker and Whitten and smashing past the onrushing Lee in goal. Colts were then hit again with another blow when a corner was delivered to the backpost Colts struggled to clear and the ball proceeded to take a few deflections before clipping the post dribbling past the stationary Chris Parker on the goal line, who couldnt actually believe what he had just seen. The third goal was rather contraversial, Lee grabbed the ball on the goal line after great work from the defence and Lee to keep out a certain goal, however and to Lee's astonishment the ref had given the goal even though he was standing on the half way line.

Colts went into the break 3-0 down. The second half seemed to fly by, Mallard like they did in the first half had a goal ruled out, this time though it was two goals in quick succesion after their players were being judged of being in an offside position. Mallard then added to the scoreline when one of their subs picked up the ball from 25 yards and shot low into the bottom right hand corner. This was Lee's busiest game and he was definetly up to it with many top saves. Even though they let in four goals the back four looked rather solid and with Lee in good form they definetly kept the score down.
