Report

Colts today faced King Pin in the KLM Cup, Liversidge came in at left back and Neil Parker got a rare start leading the line with Lane. Colts raced into an early league when Mullen as he is doing on a regular basis this season whipped in a great corner and Lane headed in at the front post. Kingpin wer struggling to deal with Colts early on but out of nothing they scoed when a long ball over the top wasnt dealt with and a neat flick from the striker found his partner who managed to slide the ball past the onrushing Jones.

Colts again went looking for a goal, Parker flicked on a long throw to Bartlett who beat the keeper to the ball but Bartlett took the ball too far away from goal leaving himself too much todo and nothing came of it, Freeman had the chance of the game when Bennett hit a superb low cross across the area to the backpost however Freeman couldnt convert and the grateful keeper managed to collect the ball on his line, apprently the linesman had his flag up but this hasnt been confirmed.

The second half kicked off with no changes, A ball from Bennet saw the opposition keeper get fortunate when the ball bounced off the defender and straight to him as Lane was closing him, another game the ball could of easily dribbled past the keeper. Lane again was involved this time bringing Liversidge's great cross field ball down and cutting inside before just smashing the volley wide. Parker had a a header after another good delivery this time from a Mullen free kick unfortunately Parker couldnt direct it and the ball went wide.

Jones who hadnt had too much todo was beaten again in the second half this time a good move down the Colts left was squared across and finished well. Colts were losing for the time in the match and there wasnt much between the teams. Parker was replaced by Wisker and Colts pushed Freeman uptop. Colts had Kingpin worried five minutes later when a goal mouth scramble was only just dealt with. Bartlett, Wisker and Freeman all had efforts blocked. The weather went from bad to worse as we soon saw torrential rain and hail. Kingpin sealed the game a few mins later when a corner wasnt dealt with and was headed in at the back post.

The last ten minutes Colts let themselves down by conceeding a further two goals , completly wasting their earlier efforts and flattering Kingpin massively. In a close game somehow Colts had lost 5-1 and crashed out of the KLM Cup, the two sides meet next week in the league.
