Report

Colts went into this game against fellow promoted team Kingpin United. Manager Hufford has been struggling to get a team last week and this week was exactly the same. Hufford had managed to bring in 2 new players while N.Parker and Lee were back. Lane and Freeman missed out through injury, while Rhodes Windsor, Liversidge, A.Wisker and C.Parker were also absent, King and Bartlett were also carrying knocks.

Colts are still yet to play a full strength team against Kingpin and were up against it very early on. Kingpin started very well, knocking the ball around which started to create space, the deadlock was soon broken when a cross from the left found the opposition player with enough time to finish low past Lee.

Colts first chance of the game came from a through ball from Mullen, Parker controlled well and held off his man before lifting the ball over the keepers head agonizingly over the bar. Hufford was trying to get Colts going and good work down the left led to him being cynically scythed down resulting in a yellow card for the opposition player.

New boy Alex Bysouth was causing issues down the left but couldnt convert a half chance from a difficult angle. Colts were soon further behind when Carl Lingwood picked up the ball 25yds from goal and someone managed to curl and loop the ball into the top corner. Colts wernt creating much but did manage to half the deficit when a long goal kick from Lee was brought down by N.Parker who flicked the ball over the advancing defenders head to Bysouth, Bysouth then delightfully whipped in a cross which found Hufford with enough time to nod in at the back post.

The second half was about the same as the first with Kingpin having all the possesion but Colts having the matches rare clear cut chances. Kingpin were 3-1 up
with about 25mins to go when Lingwood again got himself on the scoresheet, twisting in from the left and smashing in at the near post. The goal didnt end there though and Colts again managed to score this time from a set piece, a corner from Mullen took a lucky bounce and flicked off the Kingpin player past the keeper.

Pallister went on a surge and nearly got onto a through ball but was just beaten by the covering defender. Hufford then battled his way to get one on one with the keeper but with the trailing defender snapping at his heals Hufford never managed to get proper contact and his resulting shot at goal flew over. In the last few seconds N.Parker nearly capitalsed on a lapse of communication between old team mate Del Mcgivern and the keeper but unfortunately Parker was brushed off by Del just as Parker attempted to make contact(this is where Parker needed strength like Ade Akinbiyi). Hufford will hope that next week will be easier to get a team together.
