Some believe that Colts like to make it hard for themselves and you cant blame them for this opinion after this week first half. It started off really badly for Colts who were being outmuscled and outplayed everywhere. What didn't help though was that Colts looked to be beating themselves, the passing was way off and Hartham were taking full advantage of it. Hartham shocked Colts by taking the lead around the 20 minute mark, a powerful direct header from midfield found their striker who controlled well and toe poked past Lee into the top corner.
Lane and Hufford nearly worked a delightful free kick, seeing Hufford run, pete dinked a quick freekick into the six yard box, unluckily for Kieran and Colts, the ball was lifted over the keeper but agonisngly hit the post and rebounded out.It got even worse for Colts 10 minutes later when Peduto did well to keep a ball in down the left but unfortunately everyone had stopped and the Hartham winger took full advantage, finding his striker in the box who cooly rounded Lee and made it 2-0. Colts had to wake up.
Nathan Searle had a good chance to restore the deficit but his shot just trickled wide. Colts went into the second half knowing they could win the game, even though their first half performance didnt show it. Hufford introduced Jones to the right wing, and the player dubbed "Super Sub" could have got Colts back in the lead, after making the space Sam failed to get the shot in. Colts kept pressing and the goal finally came when Liversidge found Lane who burst through from the edge of the area and struck the ball low and hard past the keeper.
This gave Colts some confidence, King nearly scored a great indivdual goal when his volley clipped the bar from 20 yards. Colts continued to press and Rob Peduto nearly opened his account for Colts after a great through ball from Searle, Peduto latched onto the ball and knocked the ball past the keeper but it wasnt to be as the Hartham defender cleared the ball off the line.Hufford then called the keeper into action with a free kick aimed towards the bottom left corner.
After great domination the 2nd goal finally came when Liversidge, like the previous game launched in a giant throw(like Rory Delap), the Hartham defender deflected it onto the bar and where it fell to player manager Kieran Hufford who reacted well and converted from 2 yards. This was Huffords 3rd goal in two games against Hartham Press and he will be hoping he can extended this next week the same teams meet in the Divisional Cup.Hartham had been under the cosh for the last 35 minutes - a complete reversal to the first halfs proceedings. Great work from Searle and King down the right found Lane who flicked on header just wide of the post.
As the game was comming to an end King, like he did in the previous fixture, broke Hartham Press hearts, Nathan picked out King who volleyed low past the keeper from around 15yds out. Colts had yet again recovered from being 2 nil down and rescuing points.
The referee was disapointed to find that Daivd Ginola wasn't able to attened this fixture, though like the true professional he is, he didn't allow this to affect his performance on the pitch.
