Report

Stevenage Colts Old Boys faced many a familiar face when they went up against Emperors Head formally known as the Yorkshire Grey. The day didnt start great when players were told by manager Hufford that they only had 11 men, Jacks brother James had come in and done Colts a favour at the last minute though. The game started badly and if it hadnt of been for good saves and some erratic finishing Colts could of easily found themselves a few goals down, Colts did manage to fashion the odd chance on goal a long effort from Freeman was hit straight at the keeper and Bartlett was also very close on two occasions attacking corners at the back post. Colts finally had a chance of note when Freeman playing against his old team whipped a great ball in the area, N.Parker threw himself at it but couldnt get much of a telling touch, the ball found its way to Jack at the back post who crashed the ball off the post. What happened after wasnt good for Colts in more ways then one, Sealey broke the deadlock when he lobbed the ball over the on rushing Lee and into the net. With half time approaching N.Parker lost it, Some say it was because he got out of the bed the wrong side, some say hes crazy, whilst others believe N.Parker is the stig. Im not sure he knows himself. With Half time approaching and N.Parker still fuming manager Hufford and Captain Whitten had to get the issue resolved, they tried their best and in the end calmed down Parker.

Second half started off much brighter with Freeman causing havoc down the wing, Freeman whipped in a ball which Parker flicked on but couldnt divert it into the net, The ball found its way to Lane who wriggled free in the area and smashed the ball into the top corner. Colts had got a goal that they probably didnt deserve but Colts were now building momentum,it wasnt long before Colts were in the lead. Lane found N Parker lurking on the penalty where Parker found enough space to turn and fire low into the bottom left hand corner, Parkers third goal in three games this preseason, Lets hope he can keep it up when the real season starts. Jones went one on one but was foiled well by the keeper, Freeman and Lane had shots but the keeper kept them at bay. Colts finally got their third goal of the game after a corner from Freeman was met well by Liversidge and headed into the top corner, Liversidge jogged off looking a bit groggy after clashing heads with Bartlett. Emperors Head were back in the game when they were rewarded a penalty the usually cool Pallister sycthing down the opponent in the area, Lee guessed the right way and got fingers to it but was helpless to stop it. The game was back on for a few minutes till Freeman found Bartlett from a corner who beat the keeper to the ball and headed into the net. There was more action in the game and this time a goal for mutal friend Mark Pickard, Pickard stooped low to head past Lee late on in the game. From the restart like Liversidge had done earlier, Lane went very close shooting straigh from kickoff which just fizzed narrowly over. Then came a moment of real stupidity involving Lane and Parker, the night before Lane had a £10 bet with Parker that he would score from outside the area, With 2mins to go Parker picks up the ball on the edge of the area, has Freeman on his left and Lane on his right, Parker for some reason finds Lane who shoots straight at the keeper..
