Report

Colts were in a familiar position going into this game when it came to player selection and only just got a team together at the last minute, Lee, Jones and Mullen had gone up to Anfield for the weekend so were unavaliable. King and Whitten were injured but they did welcome back Hufford from his contraversial suspension. Highview also had this problem it seems as they lined up with 10 players and a goal keeper with no goal keeper gloves.

Colts tested the Highview defence early when a ball wasnt cleared away and it fell to the feet of Parker on the edge of the area who digged out a curling shot that the keeper dealt with easily, Colts were pressing but Highview looked very dangerous on the counter attack but It was Colts who scored first when good play from Bennett picked out Freeman who curled the ball brilliantly from the edge of the area past the keeper at his near post.

Goalkeeper gloves and another player soon arrived for Highview and as they began to get back into the game, Hufford denied Highview a goal where he came out and met the striker. Following a corner Colts were two nil up after a great leap from Bartlett at the backpost, the ball found Lane who reacted and smashed in from a yard.

Highview were back in the game after Bartlett's pass across the pitch was intercepted and smashed past Hufford from 20yds. What happened next caused a bit of contraversy when Highview were awarded a penalty from a blatent dive, justice was done though as standin Hufford guessed right and dived to his left palming the the shot round the post. Pallister picked up a yellow for dissent after a typical sarcastic remark.

The second half saw another penatly conceeded by Colts this time Rhodes Winsor bringing down the striker, this time though Highview scored the pen stroking the ball down the middle of the goal. Freeman strarted getting into the game and beating his defender at will unfortunately nothing was comming of it, However a few minutes later Freeman beat his man again and found Lane who controlled and drilled low in the bottom corner.

Highview were awarded their third penatly of the game was awarded when Bartlett and Wisker collectively fouled the runner as he made inrodes into the area, as Hufford had done earlier pulled off another spectacular save and tipped the ball onto the post before the ball was cleared away by the defence. Standin keeper Hufford was on fire.

Highview were on level terms following a good counter attack when a great finish low across Hufford found the corner.

Highview had the chance to take the lead for the first time when another penalty was awarded, the game was fast becomming a joke when Rhodes Winsor again conceeded another penalty, this time the Highview players were clearly apprehensive and didnt want to take it, to Colts amazement another penalty was missed this time the taker beat Hufford but was denied by the post and hitting Hufford on the way out.

Bennett nearly scored the goal of the game when he controlled a poor clearance from the keeper looked up and volleyed just over from 40yds.

Shortly after Colts made Highview pay for missing 3 penalties when Parker hassled the ball off the defender before colliding with the keeper, the ball went loose to Bennett who had the easiest task of putting the ball in the empty net.
