Report
This game was given the go ahead even though the pitch was frozen in places, however it didnt stop what was a good entertaining and commited game of football from both teams. Broadhall started well and should of scored early when a cross was mis hit from 6 yards, the Broadhall player then got another touch on it but it was high and over Lee's bar. It was Colt's who took the lead though when a slide ball down the right from Bennett found Hufford who beat the Broadhall offside trap and rifled high and hard past the keeper.
The lead didnt last long though as Broadhall were gifted the equaliser, Mcguiness did well in midfield winning the ball back unfortuntely his decision to pass back to Whitten was a bad one as the Broadhall striker raced in and tried to beat Lee, Lee saved brillantly at the strikers feet but was unlucky as the ball rebounded to the Broadhall striker who fired in low from 8yds. Colts were forced into a sub with 35minutes gone when Rhodes Winsor had to limp off which looked to be a knee injury. N.Parker came on and partnered Hufford upfront, Jones dropped back to midfield.
Freeman played a massive part in the second goal as Colt's took the lead, Freeman burst down the line beating his fullback with ease then he smashed a ball into the area where Hufford threw himself at it and finished low and hard into the bottom corner from 12yds out. Broadhall again got back on level terms when their player got across of the helpless Bartlett's path in the area and finished low and hard across Lee.
Both teams went into half time knowing that either team could win this game, Colts went close again when two Broadhall defenders misjudged a ball to the strikers, Hufford ran onto it but could only shoot low at the keeper. Hufford however made up for this a few minutes later when good pressure from Bennett caused the keeper to kick poorly to Hufford who cut in and curled a ball delightfully into the top corner from 35yds out, by doing so completing his hatrick.
Broadhall were not to be denied though and within fives minutes were back in the game after their defender found himself unmarked to head home from a corner, Colts had been a few minutes earlier when a header from a setpiece had been ruled out for offside. Broadhall managed to get the upper hand and were soon in front after their player found the net from in the area, Wisker was close to saving it but it wasnt to be. Broadhall were causing all sorts of problems now and a soft penalty conceeded by Mullen was converted putting the game beyond doubt.
N.Parker had a good chance to add to his low goal tally after Bennett picked him out brilliantly in the area, unfortunately for Parker he tried to to just prod it past the keeper and the on rushing keeper came out and denied him. Freeman was getting back to his old self and hit a great strike from 20yds unfortunately for him the keeper was equal to it. As Colts's tired there was to be one more goal, a great run from the right back picked out the Broadhall striker who volleyed low past Lee and completing his hatrick. Bartlett was booked late to compound the misery for Colts.
