Fresh from celebrating Sam's birthday Colts were up early for an away county cup tie in St Albans against Black Berry Jack, i said fresh but this certaintly wasnt true in Sams case who clearly smelt of the previous nights alcohol intake. For the third week in a row Colts were down to the bare eleven mainly down to injuries. Colts started off brighlty but wernt making any real progress in front of goal. The first goal of the game arrived when a Black Berry Jack player picked up the ball 20yds from goal and curled across stand in goalkeeper Hufford into the bottom corner, there was soon more bad news for Colts when Black Berry Jack added another quick goal this time a ball was smashed in on the volley at the near post. Colts were hit again moments later when they conceeded a third goal this time Hufford made a great save from the striker ,unfortunately as he palmed his shot out it went straight to the opposition striker who had the easiest task of putting the ball in the empty net. Just before the end of the half Lane walked through the defence but toed his strike over the bar.
The second half began and again Colts were on top, an attempted one two between Parker and Wisker managed to find Parker on the edge of the area whos shot just missed the top corner. Wisker then had a good chance but his flick header backwards went wide. Black Berry Jack were soon again causing issues but this time they found Sam Jones in magnificant form, Sam had replaced manager Hufford in goal at half time. Jones and Pallister along with his defence were in spectacular form defending their goal. Between Rhodes Winsor and Pallister they must of cleared the ball of the line at least three times and with Jones making wonder save after wonder save Black Berry Jack were struggling to score. Jones's cleansheet was finally taken away from him when a good skill and holdup play from the striker found his team mate who volleyed low and hard past Jones. Jones was to beaten one more time when a good low shot from the edge of the area found the bottom corner. Hufford will hope to have more of a squad next week for the game against Shephal Artois as Colts go looking for much needed league points.
