Looking back on our first season together it’s very clear the positives heavily out-weigh the negatives. After last seasons Colts recorded a somewhat poor record having been relegated from division 1 with a single point and conceding 136 goals in 16 games it was obvious the club were in need of a serious overhaul.
With thanks to Martin Wisker and Neil Parker, I was able to take over as manager and put together a squad of players that I felt could all work well together and hopefully restore some success into the club.
The season started on a good note with an opening day win and aside from what we would all agree as a less than satisfactory performance against A1 Trophies (the result of a heavy night out the previous evening) we churned out victory on a regular occasion.
Season blips were infrequent but costly - our first half against eventual champions King Pin United was possibly one of our best performances of the season but it doesn’t count for much if you cant see it out for the win, and hopefully come next season we will be able to put games to bed by taking the chances we are given.
The return game against A1 was another where we could have possibly done better, but with a weakened side and icy pitch it was always going to be a tricky fixture. Our defeat against the 10 men of Procladd effectively ended our hopes of finishing the season as champions, but considering many of us have been out of the game for a couple of years, runners-up in division 2 isn’t the worst way to end a season.
I am confident next season will prove to be more successful; with the expected addition of a handful of new but talented players (who will remain un-named until they have left their current clubs) I think we will have a squad capable of challenging for silverware.
This year has been a learning curve for everyone, and having all got ourselves back in the game I think we can all look forward to enjoying good football for 2009/2010.
I would also like to a say a big thanks to people that have helped this season and our loyal spectactors definietely deserve a mention Martin, Harry, Barb, Kat and Sam

Kieran Hufford
Manager
Player Season Summary
Kieran Hufford - (Obviously done by someone other then himself)
Kieran has done a good job in his first season, and even though he isnt the most organised manager people do tend to forget that he does alot to keep the team ticking over. Kieran is allready working on next season and hopes to continue to build on last season.
Highlight of the season – Kierans superb admin skills, joking aside the fact that he has spent most of the season playing in a non familiar position in defence and looking very comfortable.
Adrian Lee
Highly regarded by all of his team-mates Adrian has been as solid and consistent as you would expect.
Highlight of the season – an outstanding point blank save with his face against Times Club to make sure we took all three points.
Mark Pallister
Iron-man Mark has played every minute of the season and I don’t think he’s actually put a foot wrong all year.
Highlight of the season – Telling the ref his name is David Starsky.
Josh Bartlett
Even though he continuously moans about wanting to play centre midfield, the fact he hasn’t underlines his importance to the centre of defence.
Highlight of the season – His last minute equaliser against A1 Trophies
David Whitten
Club captain Dave has got better as the season has gone on, putting in some outstanding performances towards the business end of the year.
Highlight of the season – His performance against Mallard kept the defence together and saved who knows how many goals
Rob Peduto
Comfortable on the ball, left back rob was an excellent performer both defensively as well as providing options further up the field
Highlight of the season – His half-way line attempt on the volley against Stevenage Leisure had the keeper extremely worried
Dan Liversidge
6 goals (5 with his head) Dan is a technically gifted player even if he does lack the pace! He is strong in the air and has a sweet left foot.
Highlight of the season – falling down easier than Didier Drogba against Hartham Press on the opening day of the season
Oliver Wisker
The youngest member of the squad, Oli is full of energy and strong in the centre of the park – he will most definitely be missed come next season.
Highlight of the season – His 20 yard screamer against Procladd. Or the vomiting against Times Club. You decide.
Paul King
In my opinion has more ability than any other player in the league, Paul is capable of producing something out of nothing – lets just hope he steps it up next year!
Highlight of the season – His mid-air Cruyff turn where Paul ended up curling a volley against the post – would have been goal of the season without doubt.
Peter Lane
The further into the season he got the less he moaned – and the more he scored – hopefully Pete has now found his shooting boots of old and will be targeting the leagues golden boot next season.
Highlight of the season – Chipped finish against OTW might just go down as goal of the season.
Chris Parker
123 Chris is the most erratic player in the team in both performance and anger. If he’s calm he plays well, if he lets his head drop he gets frustrated.
Highlight of the season – being heckled as Waitrose boy against Roebuck Wanderers
Sam Jones
Sam has all the technique and finesse to be a great player – just needs to work on his figure. Still however a very good member of the squad capable of playing in an array of positions
Highlight of the season – His winning goal 5 minutes from time from 25 yards against Marquis of Lorne – then explaining after the game he already thought we were winning!
Neil Parker
Wouldn’t have a team if it wasn’t for Neil. Does try too many Hollywood balls and thinks he’s Dimitar Berbatov, but has popped up with the odd vital goal.
Highlight of the season – With a broken nose scores a header to equalise against A1 Trophies with 3 minutes to go
Gareth Rees
Forever grateful to Gaz for helping us out every week, and put in a one-man wrecking machine-like performance at the latter stage of the Times Club game.
Highlight of the season – His attempted chip vs Times Club where everyone associated with Colts were willing it to drop in.
Nathan Searle
Only featured in a handful of games, but was certainly a positive addition to the Colts squad.
Highlight of the season – a cigarette before, during and after every game. Without fail!
Craig Winch
Possibly the quickest player in the team, with again possibly the worst ball control in the team. Winch was there week in week out and ended the season with a good performance and 2 goals against times club.
Highlight of the season – after being dummied, the ball rolled to winch with an open goal, who decided instead of scoring would put it both over and wide.
Adam Wisker
Away at Uni, Adam only featured for Colts on a couple of occasions, but having him back next season will be a big positive for the team.
Highlight of the season – Managing two assists in three apperances this season
Chris Thompson
With loyalties torn between Colts and his girlfriend Thompson only featured for Colts on the rare occasion.
Highlight of the season – Banishing his 1-on-1 demons against Procladd.
